MTech (AI) @ IISc

The two-year MTech in Artificial Intelligence aims to fill the critical needs of the industry and to fill the gap in the availability of high-end AI scientists and engineers. The vision of the MTech (AI) programme is to impart rigorous training in the foundations and deep technology of Artificial Intelligence to produce graduates who can become world leaders in AI and lead India’s march towards leadership in this important area. 25 March 2024: Please note that the written test for admission through the GATE mode of entry will be conducted on 15 April 2024 from 9:00 to10:30 AM in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IISc. The shortlisted candidates will be informed by the Admissions section of IISc in the first week of April. Further details on the written test will be emailed after that.

There are two modes of admission to MTech AI, either through GATE or through CFTIs.

GATE Mode of Entry: Eligible GATE papers CS, DA, EC, EE. Eligible qualifying degrees: BE/BTech or equivalent, MSc (2-year and integrated), 4-year BS or BS (Research) or equivalent, MMath and MStat.

CFTI Mode of Entry: BE/ BTech/ 4-years BS or BS (Research) or equivalent, in any branch of Science/Engineering from a CFTI with a CGPA of 8.0 or above.

In both modes of entry, shortlisted candidates will need to appear for an in-person written test, details of which will be communicated at an appropriate time

Hari Govid Shrawgi is a happy recipient of the prestigious Prof. Sargur N. Srihari Gold Medal awarded to the Outstanding Student in MTech (AI) 2019-2021 batch. He is also the first recipient of the award since its institution.

GroupM Artificial Intelligence Lab inaugurated at Department of Electrical Engineering on October 13, 2021, by Shri M.A. Partha Sarathy, CEO, MindShare, South Asia.

Timken AI Lab was inaugurated in the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering on April 28, 2022 by Mr. Sanjay Singh, Head of HR, Timken.
